It calls each contact in the order set, and will keep calling repeatedly until someone answers. Once they do, the user has full 2-way voice communication through the device's built-in microphone and loud speaker — just like a phone call.
False alarm? No problem. Alarm beeps for 10 seconds and says clearly that it has been activated and to press the SOS again to cancel.
Prefer not to rely on family or friends? The alarm can instead call our 24/7 Medical Monitoring team, who are trained to arrange help immediately and hold relevant details on file — including medical history and property access information.
When you receive the alarm, you only need to charge it and wear it!

More Detailed Information
How the NHA Life Alarm Works
The NHA Life Alarm is a 4G, 4GX & GPS mobile-based life and medical alarm — meaning it truly works anywhere there's 4G, 3G or GPS service. Waterproof, durable and easy to use, it can be worn on the included lanyard, wristband or clothes clip.
At the press of the SOS button, or when a fall is detected, the device calls up to 8 pre-programmed contacts and sends an SMS to up to 4 pre-programmed contacts — we program it all for you. The SMS includes the time, date, the user's name and a GPS map link to locate them precisely. It calls each contact in the order programmed until one answers, and will keep calling repeatedly until help is reached. Once answered, the user has full 2-way voice communication through the built-in microphone and loud speaker.
If a contact's phone goes to voicemail, the device recognises this, hangs up, and continues calling the next contact — it won't get stuck waiting. If a false alarm is triggered, simply press the SOS button again while it's beeping and the screen confirms "SOS Cancelled."
Main Features Explained
As the national distributor for this model, our device runs custom firmware that works differently from other alarms on the market, including rebranded versions of the same hardware.
- SOS button — 10 loud beeps, cancel within 10 seconds if it's a false alarm
- Fall detector — 10 loud beeps, adjustable sensitivity, cancel within 10 seconds if false
- GPS locator — locate the device anytime, contacts only
- Calls and texts — sends both SMS and phone calls to up to 8 contacts in an emergency
- Speed dial — dial any of your 8 saved contacts outside of an emergency
- Inbound calls — auto-answer after 3 rings (default), or push-button to answer
- On-screen display — time, date, battery and signal strength is visible when screen is woken
Screen also displays SOS/ FALL activations and contact list when side buttons are used. - Low battery SMS alert — contacts notified when battery drops below a set percentage
Geo-Fencing — Perfect for Dementia Care
Geo-Fencing lets you set a safe area on the map — around the home, a care facility, or a familiar neighbourhood — and get an automatic alert the moment the wearer travels outside it. It's one of the most valued features for families supporting someone living with dementia or at risk of wandering, giving peace of mind without needing to constantly check in.
Because the alarm also has full GPS tracking built in, once an alert is triggered you can immediately locate the wearer on the map and respond — rather than just knowing they've left the area.
2026 Model — New Features
Some features are added exclusively to NHA Life Alarm branded models in 2026:
- Audible voice prompts — the device talks in English or your chosen language
- Non-movement alarm — alerts a contact if the user hasn't moved for a set number of hours
- Medication reminder — set a daily reminder right on the device
- Alarm clock — set a daily wake-up alarm if required
- Auto time zone — no manual adjustment needed when travelling or for daylight savings
- Fast calling — calls without the usual cancellation-window delay
- Turn-off alert — lets your first contact know if the device is turned off, and how (battery or power button)
- New smart dock — allows indefinite charging without battery deterioration over time
- Silent calling option — turned off by default; ideal for domestic violence or duress situations, allowing contacts to listen in during an emergency without alerting anyone nearby
Voice Prompts Explained
Voice prompts are clear, spoken messages the device gives as it's used — previous models only beeped or flashed a light. While the screen already shows what's happening, voice prompts make the experience far easier to follow, especially for anyone vision-impaired or in the middle of an emergency.
For example, pressing SOS triggers: "Your alarm has been activated, to cancel, press the SOS button," followed by 10 beeps during which it can be cancelled. Turning the device off says "Your alarm is turning off," and charging says "Your alarm is charging." There are over 12 voice prompts in total, each clearly confirming what the device is doing.
Colours & Accessories in Detail
Flagship Black — as the sole national distributor for this model, we're the only supplier with a black device and white buttons. Every other brand reselling this same hardware only offers yellow buttons.
Blue — the colour of a relaxing swimming pool, as our team describes it. A trendy yet subtle blue.
Green — the colour inside a ripe avocado. Fresh and appealing.
Wristband — waterproof, black, lightweight silicon. Suits all NHA Life Alarm models and brands.
Belt / clothes clip — one of our favourite accessories. Clips onto trousers, skirts, handbags or tool belts, making the alarm trendy and unobtrusive to wear.
Lanyards — two are included with every order (short and long). Each has a safety break-away loop, plus a small clip for ID or keys.
SIM Card Options & Costs
Option 1 — NHA on Telstra. Unlimited emergency use on 100% of the Telstra network, fully NHA-managed so the user always has coverage without needing to remember top-ups. $540 includes 12 months of emergency use; after that it's $90/year (unlimited), set up on direct debit.
Option 2 — NHA on Optus. Same unlimited emergency use and NHA-managed coverage, on the Optus network. $560 includes 12 months of emergency use; after that it's $110/year (unlimited), set up on direct debit.
Option 3 — BYO SIM. $525, we provide a screwdriver so you can insert your own SIM. Telstra or Telstra-based networks preferred; Vodafone is not supported.
Travelling & Roaming Overseas
This alarm only works in Australia or New Zealand (BYO SIM required for NZ).
If you require a model that works overseas, you must request it from us. Coverage extends to most major destinations, including the UK, USA, India and Italy.
What Is 4G, 3G and 5G?
3G, 4G and 5G are the network bands used on mobile towers. 4G is the dominant bandwidth today, and all emergency devices should run on it to ensure they keep working — 3G has now been shut down in Australia. 4G will remain the main network for at least 10–15 years after 3G's retirement. Our device works on 4GX, 4G+ and 4G depending on the SIM inserted, and will still work on 3G SIMs overseas where 3G remains active. Our 4G alarm was the first true 4G medical/life alarm on the market, since upgraded to a 4GX model.
Self-Monitored vs Medical Monitored
Option 1 — Self-Monitored (included in price). Contacts up to 8 people of your choice, including 000 (Emergency Services). SMS and calls are sent when SOS is pressed or a fall detected. The device recognises voicemails and disconnects before continuing to the next contact — and unlike many alarms, it will keep calling repeatedly until help is reached.
Option 2 — Medical Monitored. The device connects to our ASIAL-approved medical monitoring service, so when SOS is pressed or a fall detected, trained staff can arrange help immediately. The monitoring centre holds relevant medical history on file, along with residence access information including key safe codes, manager numbers and security gate codes. The facility answers 24/7.
Australian Compliance — RCM Approved
Australia has its own strict requirements for electronic, telephone and medical alarm systems. We worked closely with a NSW-based RCM laboratory through months of testing to provide a device that's fully RCM approved, passing all relevant standards. It's also approved for the UK, USA and Europe.

What is Geo-Fencing, and how does it work?
Geo-Fencing lets you set a safe area on the map and get alerted the moment the wearer travels outside it — ideal for dementia care or wandering risk. You can then use the device's built-in GPS to locate them immediately.
Can I use my own SIM card?
Yes — the BYO SIM option is discounted by $20, and we provide a screwdriver so you can insert your own. Telstra or Telstra-based networks are preferred; Vodafone isn't supported.
Does it work overseas?
This alarm only works in Australia or New Zealand (BYO SIM required for NZ).
If you require a model that works overseas, you must request it from us. Coverage extends to most major destinations, including the UK, USA, India and Italy.
What if a contact's phone goes to voicemail?
The device recognises voicemail, disconnects automatically, and moves straight on to the next contact — it won't waste time waiting on a message.
Is there a silent or duress calling option?
Yes. Turned off by default, this option is designed for domestic violence or duress situations — it allows contacts to listen in during an emergency without alerting anyone nearby.
Is the device RCM approved for use in Australia?
Yes — fully RCM approved after months of testing with a NSW-based laboratory, and also approved for the UK, USA and Europe.
Can the alarm call 000 directly?
Yes — under Self-Monitored mode, 000 (Emergency Services) can be added as one of your up to 8 contacts.
Do I need to top up the SIM myself?
No — NHA on Telstra is fully managed by us, so there's no risk of the user forgetting to top up and losing coverage.
